Dear Happy Valley Family,

I am excited and honored to serve as your elementary principal for the 2025-2026 school year! I am Chris Nelson, and I'm deeply committed to fostering a supportive and engaging environment where every child can thrive.

My educational path led me through UCLA for Psychology and Education Studies, and then to CSULB for my teaching and administrative credentials, along with a Master's degree. I've had the privilege of teaching various grade levels, from Kindergarten to junior high, and have served as a principal for eight years in different school communities prior to starting in Happy Valley. These experiences have reinforced my belief in the importance of nurturing every child's potential. My wife, three children, and I have happily called the Northstate home for over five years now, and we deeply value the close-knit community here.

I am particularly excited to continue working within a small school environment like Happy Valley Elementary, where I can truly get to know each student and family. My goal, in collaboration with our dedicated school board, Superintendent Gina Murphy, and the HVUSD staff, is to cultivate an environment where students not only excel in their academics but also develop strong character and a sense of responsibility as citizens. We'll achieve this through engaging learning experiences, positive relationships, and a supportive community.
